Federal Workers in DC Experience 2-Hour Delays After Musk/Trump End Remote Working

Nearly 17,000 federal workers are expected to return to the office at Washington Navy Yard on Monday after President Donald Trump's executive order to end remote work went into effect on Monday.

The problem? There are only about 4,400 parking spaces available for these 17,000 workers. Usually I'd turn this fact into a rant about how America is too car dependent and should invest more in public transportation, but that's an issue for another time.

Musk and Trump have made it very clear that they want to fire as many government officials as possible in accordance with their Project 2025 guidebook. And since it's illegal (for now) to just fire people with no reason, they seem to have implemented a "death by a thousand cuts" method that makes fed workers so miserable they choose to resign on their own.

These piling up inconveniences include general delays, having to find parking off base, and an extra 2 hours added to their commutes.

A federal worker who had been going into the office before the executive order was issued said traffic was backed up considerably.

“This is amazing because I haven’t seen this much of a backup in about three years,” the worker said. “I hope people are ready for it. I hope they bring their patience with them.”

Officials at Washington Navy Yard are encouraging people to take alternative transportation to work, like the Metro.

Last week, Metro reported its highest Monday rush hour ridership since 2020. The number could increase as workers figure out a way to get to work while dealing with increased traffic.

America sure is being made great again!

This administration has ideas not plans. They could benefit from Stephen Covey's work and start with the end in mind. If they couldn't forsee this problem they are inadequate for their positions.
