November 2023 continued President Biden’s recurring theme of strong monthly jobs reports; nearly 200,000 jobs were added to the U.S. economy that month, dropping the unemployment rate down to 3.7%.
Even Fox News—or parts of it, at least—celebrated it.
Stuart Varney, an anchor on the Fox Business channel, not only raved about the “resilient labor market” and “strong numbers,” but repeatedly name-dropped the President, suggesting that Biden would—and should—take credit.
“It’s a resilient labor market and President Biden will talk about this sometime today,” Varney said on Saturday, “because these are good numbers for Bidenomics.”
Varney acknowledged the number of jobs and the unemployment rate exceeded expectations. Regarding the latter Varney said, “he’ll tout that big time because he’ll say ‘that’s Bidenomics at work!’ And historically, that’s a very low unemployment rate.”
When his Fox interviewer interjected, suggesting the excellent report was a result of seasonal or holiday jobs, Varney shot it down.
“Well, strangely enough, retail employment went down,” Varney said, “that’s very weak for this time of year.”
November’s report brings the total number of jobs created under President Biden to 14.1 million, a staggering number for a chief executive who hasn’t yet completed a full term.
