Fox News personalities were triggered that presidential scholars have ranked Donald Trump last in a list of American presidents.

The list, released on Presidents Day, was part of a survey conducted by the 2024 Presidential Greatness Project Expert Survey and the 154 respondents were all members of the Presidents & Executive Politics Section of the American Political Science Association, the foremost presidential scholars in the country.

Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and George Washington occupied the list’s top three spots, as they typically do in all other lists.

Already infuriated by Donald Trump’s position at the bottom, Fox News hosts were further outraged by the placement of Barack Obama at Number 7 and President Joe Biden at Number 14.

“A new ranking,” began an annoyed Fox host and former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, “and I’m going to add—in my view, a highly questionable—ranking of presidents is turning heads after Biden came in higher than both Donald Trump and Ronald Reagan.”

Reagan, the icon of the Republican Party before the Trump era, placed 16th.

McEnany graciously conceded that Lincoln’s position as Number One was “okay, fair,” but decried the relative position of Biden, Trump, Obama, and Reagan as proof of the detachment of “ivory tower” scholars and “the American people.”

Her co-host grumbled that the “list is bogus, everyone knows that Obama is not that high, he was a terrible president.”

Trump’s position at the list’s bottom was relatively uniform even when factoring in the reported ideology of the respondents: even conservative Republican scholars consider him among the worst.
