George Santos, the pathologically-lying fraud and freshman Republican Congressman, has now reversed course to declare he won’t seek re-election after the release of a humiliating report from the House Ethics committee.

The long-anticipated report is the culmination of a months’ long investigation by Congress into Santos’s alleged acts of corruption.

The report’s conclusions are devastating, concluding that there is “substantial evidence” that Santos committed fraud, Federal Election Commission violations, and misappropriations of campaign funds for personal uses—such as Botox treatments and OnlyFans subscriptions.

Reaction was imminent: the media is having a field day; some Democrats—including Congressman Dan Goldman—are vowing to renew expulsion efforts; and some Republicans are shrugging, demanding a criminal conviction before taking action against Santos.

Santos himself took to Twitter to unleash a multi-paragraph screed. Denouncing the report, the investigation, and his critics, Santos concluded by vowing to not seek re-election in 2024 because of media scrutiny against him and his family.

Of course, given that Santos is a known liar, we have no reason to believe he won’t launch his re-election campaign next week.
