I Guess We're Doing Concentration Camps Now

President Donald Trump said he will order the construction of a mass detention camp that can hold 30,000 deportees at the Guantánamo Bay Naval Base. In case you don't speak politics - that's a concentration camp. No really, that's not hyperbole - here's the definition:

This announcement coincides with Trump signing the Laken Riley Act, a bill that is expected to expand the number of immigrant detainees held in U.S. custody for minor property crimes, Trump said the massive camp would “detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people” and be “a tough place to get out of.”
So for the folks bad at math - we just made it legal to arrest people ACCUSED of crimes. Not charged. So if I call the police and say I think someone knocked over my mail box? Guantanamo. These teens were being a little too rowdy? Guantanamo. All people have rights, regardless of their legal status in the country. Existing isn't a crime, but the Trump administration is quickly making it be one. Also, I intentionally call the people in these examples people. Reducing human lives to categories like "illegal immigrants" makes it far too easy to not see these people as people and only as possible threats.
This is a breaking story, and I'll keep you posted on any updates.
