Here are some things from this weekend that you may have missed in the American circus!
Musk's DOGE Goons Are Using Twitter's AI, Grok, to Analyze Your Sensitive Data

Elon Musk’s goons at the Department of Government Efficiency are using his own AI bot, Grok, to analyze potentially sensitive federal government data.
Musk’s xAI company has created a customized version og Grok that is actively combing through government data.
This is alarming for so many reasons, the main 2 being that exposing sensitive or confidential data to Grok could violate security and privacy laws, and that this will give Musk an unfair advantage against other companies. Honestly, I care way less about fair competition and more about what Musk's virgin squad is doing with my tax returns.
Albert Fox Cahn, the executive director of the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project, warned that by implementing Grok in DOGE‘s work, government data could leak to Musk’s private xAI company. I think he's wrong. The data isn't goingf to "leak" - it will be intentionally injected.
DOGE also instructed officials at the Department of Homeland Security to use Grok despite it not being approved by the department, two other sources told the outlet. A DHS spokesperson denied that DOGE had “pushed” employees to use any particular “tools or products” in a statement to Reuters.
Meanwhile, a supervisor at the Department of Defense reportedly told a group of workers that an algorithmic tool was surveilling some of their computer activity, potentially in violation of civil service laws.
Grok, which is integrated with Musk’s X platform, gained the attention of users last week when it kept ranting about “white genocide” in South Africa in response to completely unrelated prompts.
I for one can't wait until some industrious teen overrides Grok and leaks the entire government archive on github.
Trump's Border Czar is a Big Baby and It's Costing Us Millions

It costs us, the taxpayer, over $1 million a month to protect Tom Homanthe ghoul currently dubbed as Trump's Border Czar. The salaries of Homan’s bodyguards cost $500,000 each month in addition to the fees from their airfare, hotel bills, and other travel expenses.
The Biden administration did not have a separate “border czar” to enable costs to be compared. That title occasionally went to Vice President Kamala Harris, whose protection was provided by the U.S. Secret Service.
The costs of protecting the border czar are borne by the Department of Homeland Security, which Kristi Noem, aka ICE Barbie, heads. A spokesperson for the agency defended the costs in a statement to CBS that claimed Homan is particularly vulnerable to threats. Maybe he wouldn't be so vulnerable if he weren't so outspoken in his cruel crusade to cause human strife.
Low IQ Trump Won't Leave Harvard Alone

Donald Trump's most recent authoritarian overreach involves doxxing Harvard’s international students.
Trump claimed the Ivy League university has not been forthcoming about how much of its student body international students make up in an early-morning Truth social rant.
“Why isn’t Harvard saying that almost 31% of their students are from FOREIGN LANDS, and yet those countries, some not at all friendly to the United States, pay NOTHING toward their student’s education, nor do they ever intend to. Nobody told us that! We want to know who those foreign students are, a reasonable request since we give Harvard BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, but Harvard isn’t exactly forthcoming. We want those names and countries,” Trump added," Trump posted.
The Truth Social post came days after the Trump administration moved to block Harvard’s ability to admit foreign students, though a federal court temporarily blocked the move. For the record, International students usually pay their own tuition, at usually higher costs, and are a major source of revenue for the university.
Harvard had 6,793 international students for the 2024-2025 academic year, or 27.2 percent of its student body, according to the university.
Harvard has already sued the Trump administration for violating the university’s First Amendment rights.
Texas Continues to be the Worst State in the Union

Since the tragic shooting in Uvalde, the not-so-great state of Texas has done nothing to restrict guns. But you know what they HAVE done? Moved to recriminalize weed, make vibrators illegal, and put the 10 commandments into classrooms.
Texas Republicans are cheering at the eradication of the separation of church and state as their proposal to require all public school classrooms in the state to display the Ten Commandments gets closer to becoming a reality.
The bill would require public schools to display a 16-inch by 20-inch poster or framed copy of one specific English language version of the Commandments.
If the bill passes into law, Texas would become the largest state to mandate the display of the Ten Commandments in classrooms, joining other Paragons of morality and education Louisiana. Louisiana’s law is currently on hold pending legal challenges, after a judge ruled that it was “unconstitutional on its face.”
I pray the Texas law meets a similar fate.
Another Military Helicopter Could Have Struck a Passenger Plane

Two commercial flights were forced to abandon their landings near Washington, D.C., on May 1st due to problems with military air traffic control.
According to The New York Times, Pentagon air traffic controllers lost contact with an Army Black Hawk helicopter for 20 critical seconds on May 1st. To me, it's starting to look like some of those "DEI hires" fired by Pete Hegseth were actually crucial to their stations.
The near-miss comes off the back of a deadly January midair collision involving an Army helicopter and a passenger jet that killed 67 people. This year has seen a number of unrelated crashes, with an air ambulance going down in Philadelphia in January, killing six, and a commuter plane crashing in Alaska, killing 10.
MAGAt Influencer Demand Hosts of 'The View' Be Sent To Guantanamo Bay

Every day, I am forced to learn about a new Hitler-youth styled TP USA orbiter. The latest is the far-right influencer Link Lauren, who bears a striking resemblance to my sleep paralysis demon. He recently went viral for a "clap back" at the hosts of long-running daytime television show 'The View' in which he says the hosts should be deported.
“Whenever I watch these five trolls on ‘The View, ’ it confirms I am 100% gay,” said right-wing influencer Link Lauren on Fox. Link calling these women trolls from a glass house is quite audacious.
Link, aka ‘MAGA Malfoy’, then went on to say he thought the ABC show’s hosts ought to be rounded up and deported to Guantanamo Bay.
He later shared a clip of his diatribe via X with the caption: “The View is an utter calamity. I stand by everything I said! Ship them to GITMO and never look back!”
I think the bleach might be sinking into his brain a bit, yeesh.
