In an official video on X (formerly known as Twitter), President Biden reported that his campaign raised more than $1.6 million from grassroots donors in the 24 hours following Donald Trump’s victory in Iowa.

“Our campaign is nurses and teachers versus the extreme MAGA Republicans,” Biden said, “and we need you with us.”

The impressive sum garnered in a day’s span follows reports that the Biden-Harris campaign raised $97 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, with a total of $117 million in cash on hand going into 2024.

The president’s campaign has seen three quarters of consecutive growth since formally announcing his candidacy, including $77 million in Q2 and $91 million in Q3.

Biden’s Republicans rivals have not released their fundraising totals yet, but all were outclassed in Q3: Trump raised $38 million, Nikki Haley raised $14.5 million, and Ron DeSantis raised $14 million.

Even Fox News is nervous, noting that Biden’s fundraising outperformed President Obama in Q4 of 2011 ahead of his 2012 reelection and that Republicans collectively spent in Iowa as much money as the president raised.

They spent a hundred million dollars here in Iowa, Republicans. Joe Biden raked in a hundred million dollars in the last quarter and he's not campaigning,” Katie Pavlich said, “And so the question is, how expensive is the participation trophy really going to be?”
