Controversial MAGA Republican Lauren Boebert announced that she will be relocating to a more conservative Colorado district in the hopes of remaining in Congress, abandoning an increasingly bleak reelection campaign in her present district.

Boebert announced via Facebook video that “a lot of prayer, a lot of tough conversations, and a lot of perspective convinced [her] that this is the best way [she] can continue to fight for Colorado, for the conservative movement, and for [her] children’s future.”

The MAGA Republican only narrowly won reelection in 2022—by fewer than 600 votes—and is once again facing Democratic challenger Adam Frisch, who has been brutally outperforming Boebert in fundraising in one quarter after another.

Beset by controversies and scandals, including recent lewd behavior at a Colorado theater, Boebert is abandoning her reelection campaign in Colorado’s 3rd District to try again in the Colorado 4th, which leans 27 points towards the Republican Party compared to the 3rd District’s 9 points.

Boebert’s decision will likely complicate matters for Frisch, for whom Boebert was a uniquely defeatable opponent. Now that the controversial congresswoman is retreating, it seems likely that the district’s decisive GOP-bias will work against Frisch.

The current incumbent representative from Colorado’s 4th District is Ken Buck, the peculiar far right Republican who believes climate change is a hoax and that abortions should be banned without exception—but simultaneously decries the election denialism running rampant through his party and the baseless efforts to impeach President Biden.

Buck recently announced he is not seeking reelection.

Republicans vying for his chair are likely to be furious with Boebert’s shamelessly self-serving decision.

Once, state representative Richard Holtorf, issued a written statement to the media: “If you can’t win in your home, you can’t win here. She knew she’d lose in her own district and I’ll show her that’ll she’ll lose here too.”
