The GOP’s quest to impeach Joe Biden is paying dividends—at the moment, for the President himself.

Recent reporting indicates that the Biden-Harris reelection campaign is enjoying a surge of fundraising from a recent email from Vice-President Kamala Harris to donors condemning House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into Biden.

“The Biden campaign is trying to use this opportunity, turning it into a political advantage for them,” said CNN correspondent Arlette Saenz, “I’m told they started fundraising off this impeachment inquiry vote last night and already that email was sent in Vice President Kamala Harris’s name—it is the best performing email sent by the campaign this month.”

An anonymous source within the campaign told CNBC that the surge is “a testament to the energy against this whole thing.”

Though the official numbers have not been released and the extent to which Biden’s campaign intends to redirect the GOP’s impeachment momentum against them remains unknown, the messaging seems to be a brief foray into territory usually claimed by Trump: using political grievance for political gain.

Biden’s reelection efforts are assailed by increasingly frequent high-profile stories about slipping polls—and conveniently underreported polls to the contrary—but one thing not in question is his campaign’s fundraising prowess.

So far, the combined fundraising efforts between the President’s campaign and Democratic efforts as a whole have consistently dwarfed those from Trump, his primary challengers, and the Republican Party collectively since Biden announced his candidacy.
