The corrupt Republican Attorney General of Texas is suing a media watchdog group in response to major businesses halting their advertisements on Elon Musk’s social media platform, X.

After Apple, Comcast, Disney, IBM, and others suspended their advertising on X in response to ever-increasing antisemitism, Trump loyalist Stephen Miller suggested that Republican attorneys general should file suit on behalf of a furious Elon Musk.

Ken Paxton, the Attorney General of Texas, answered Miller’s call by opening an investigation into Media Matters, the nonprofit group which issued the report many credit (or blame) for X’s sudden loss in major advertisers, for “potential fraudulent activity.”

Paxton, who was recently impeached on allegations of corruption but acquitted by the Texas Senate, made no effort to conceal his bias, referring to Media Matters as a “radical anti-free speech organization” in a public statement.

In its report, Media Matters reported it had found ads from Apple, IBM, and others next to X posts celebrating Adolf Hitler and Nazism. Consequently, many major businesses suspended advertisements on the platform.

X has sued Media Matters, claiming its report was “intentionally deceptive” to “create the false, misleading perception that these types of pairings were common, widespread, and alarming.”

Many have noted the irony of Musk, a self-professed free speech absolutist, and Paxton, member of the self-professed party of free speech, using lawsuits and state power to retaliate against a group exercising that very value.
