Senator Uses a Cameo Message from George Santos to Troll Fellow Democrat

Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania trolled his federally-indicted colleague, Bob Menendez of New Jersey, by using a Cameo message from the disgraced, recently-expelled ex-Republican Congressman George Santos.

Though Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and California Governor Gavin Newsom are perhaps the Democrats’ most rhetorically persuasive surrogates, John Fetterman arguably has the best social media and troll game in the party.

Much of his 2022 victory against former television doctor-turned Republican candidate Dr. Oz was attributed to Fetterman’s ability to troll his adversaries.

This time, however, Fetterman turned his infamous talent against a fellow Democrat: Bob Menendez of New Jersey, who was recently indicted by the Justice Department on charges of corruption.

“I thought my ethically-challenged colleague @BobMenendezNJ could use some encouragement given his substantial legal problems,” Fetterman wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “So, I approached a seasoned expert on the matter to give ‘Bobby from Jersey’ some advice.”

Below this message played a 30 second video from the recently-expelled Santos:

“Hey Bobby,” Santos cheerfully greeted. “Uh, look, I don’t think I need to tell you but: these people who wanna make you get in trouble and wanna kick you out and make you run away? You make ‘em put up or shut up! You stand your ground, sir, and don’t get bogged down by all the haters out there! Merry Christmas!”

Whether Santos understood Menendez was the subject of the Cameo is unknown.

More than half of Senate Democrats have demanded Menendez’s resignation.
