Donald Trump is a defendant in a new lawsuit alleging that he, his 2020 presidential campaign, and the Republican National Committee attempted to disenfranchise black voters in their attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Worse for Trump—the case has been assigned to the very judge who just slapped him with a gag order yesterday.

Oof.

The lawsuit was brought by the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund and asserts that Trump’s 2020 schemes violated the Voting Rights Act.

This is officially the second case pertaining to Trump’s unlawful attempts to overturn the 2020 election over which Judge Tanya Chutkan will preside. The first was the case brought to her by Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith, which indicted Trump on multiple counts of criminal conspiracy.

Yesterday, she imposed a narrow gag order on Trump for his increasingly deranged and violent rhetoric against her, Smith, their families, and other court officers.

Trump will presumably attempt to force Judge Chutkan’s recusal—as he did (unsuccessfully) in the first case.
