Trump is Inviting Meme Coin Holders to Dinner

I guess this is the new normal thanks to our grifting, scamming, pay to win, Felon in Chief. Donald Trump has announced an exclusive dinner with the top 220 holders of his $TRUMP memecoin at an event billed as “the most EXCLUSIVE INVITATION in the World.” I don't think it's the most exclusive invitation in the world - I more agree with Senator Chris Murphy who called it "the most brazenly corrupt thing a President has ever done."
Yes, according to the AI-generated flyer, any person - ANY person - that “holds as much $TRUMP as you can” from Wednesday through May 12 can rise in the ranks on the cryptocurrency’s “leaderboard” to win an invitation to bask in Trump's presence.

The promotion for the payola on steroids event at Trump National Golf Club in the capital features a rendering of Trump that mildly resembles him (imagine Trump's face pasted onto Don Draper's body) and promises an “unforgettable Gala DINNER”.
“The competition is fierce. Own $TRUMP—or watch from the sidelines,” calling to action the “Biggest and Most Important” investors in Trump’s memecoin. I've seen ads for online sports gambling sites that were less sleazy.
Seriously, this MUST break some sort of sweepstakes/giveaway laws - not that that's stopped Trump and crew before. The language used is also reminicent of a going-out-of-business sale, telling people, “Don’t Miss Out” on a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity. “ARE YOU IN?”. “BE PART OF HISTORY!”
The event promises “intimate” and “close-up” time with Trump in a discussion about the future of cryptocurrency.

Trump’s critics quickly condemned the scheme.
“First, Donald Trump launches a memecoin, netting himself billions. Next, his family gets in on the scheme. Now his billionaire buddies are getting even richer, too. The most brazen corruption imaginable,” wrote Senator Chris Murphy.
“Donald Trump, in his last presidency, called crypto a scam and wanted to end it overall. Now he’s figured out how to profit personally from it, and he’s all in favor,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren told HuffPost. “The point of government is not to help rich people get richer. The point of government is supposed to be to make the economy work better for working people. Obviously, that is not Donald Trump.”
The month after Trump launched his cryptocurrency, the Securities and Exchange Commission announced that memecoins would not be subject to its oversight.
Shocker.
