Donald Trump expected to get a King's welcome but instead got a loud wake-up call while holding court at the grand opening of the new pro-MAGA Kennedy Center on Wednesday night.

Instead of flowers and adoring fans, Trump and his wife were greeted with a chorus of boos when they stepped out from their box in the auditorium for the first night of Trump's favorite musical, Les Misérables. Yes, THAT Les Misérables.

The opening night audience was packed with MAGAts, including Vice President JD Vance, second lady Usha Vance, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and his wife (the one he didn't lead to an early grave) Cheryl Hines.

In a SUPER classy show of force, the newly theater loving, pro-Trump contingent began chanting “USA! USA!” like it was a sports game.

Since taking over as chair of the Kennedy Center in February, Trump personally selected the entire board of trustees in his attempt to stamp out “woke” productions at the iconic venue.

“They asked me to be chairman, I’ve got a lot of other things going on, but it’s a great honor,” Trump said on the red carpet before going inside to watch Les Mis.

He told Fox News last week that the musical was one of his favorites. “I love the songs, I love the play. I think it’s great,” he said. “We may extend it.” Imagine being such an idiot that Les Mis is your favorite musical, and then you model your life off the guy who throws himself off a wall.

As part of efforts to upend the liberal institution, Trump appointed Usha Vance to the board along with Bondi, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, and Fox News host Laura Ingraham, aka the only women he could remember at the time.

Newly cool California Governor, Gavin Newsom was one of many to point out the irony of Trump putting on a production of Les Misérables. The musical tackles themes of public rebellion and showcases the struggles of the poor and the injustices of society.

“Someone explain the plot to him,” Newsom posted on Wednesday.

Trump's presence felt especially like a huge middle finger since he chose to visit during Pride month after cancelling all LGBTQ programming. However, he may have declared an end to drag shows at the Kennedy Center, but that didn’t stop drag queens from showing up.

Four drag queens were welcomed with resounding cheers on Wednesday as they walked into the storied arts institution.

Videos posted on Twitter showed the performers in colorful gowns as they walked toward their seats while the crowd applauded them.

Trump vowed in February to remake the renowned cultural center in his image: “NO MORE DRAG SHOWS, OR OTHER ANTI-AMERICAN PROPAGANDA — ONLY THE BEST.” Weird coming from a man who looks like he loves pancake makeup.

Qommittee, a network of drag queens and fans, had told NPR that four to six performers planned to attend the big gala using tickets donated by attendees who chose to snub the event after Trump’s takeover.

Vagenesis (slay), told the radio network that she “couldn’t deny” speaking out against Trump’s sweeping overhaul of the Kennedy Center. “Theater is supposed to be a place of community, a place of storytelling, a place of celebration, joy, catharsis, and it should be open and available to all,” she said.

At least 10 cast members of Les Misérables, one of Trump’s favorite musicals (again, WTF), decided to skip the event, highlighting the tensions between the president and members of the performing arts center over the pivot to what the president perceives as “non-woke” programming.

When asked about the actors who were planning to boycott him, Trump said, “I couldn’t care less," which is a classic response by those who care soooooo much.
