The challenging reelection bid of Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-Co.) has become increasingly more difficult in the aftermath of her recent scandal at a Denver theater.

In mid-September, Boebert and a date attended a public, kid-friendly performance of Beetlejuice at a public theater. Video footage depicted Boebert vaping over the protests of other attendees and engaging in mutual groping with her escort.

They were eventually asked to leave and escorted out by ushers. On her way out, Boebert flipped her middle finger at cameras and theater employees.

After the scandal broke, Boebert alternated between downplaying and apologizing for it depending on the audience.

Now it seems to have cost her key, much-needed endorsements from prominent Colorado Republicans:

Ex-Governor Bill Owens endorsed Republican challenger Jeff Hurd.

Delta County Commissioner Don Suppes also endorsed Hurd, publicly citing Boebert’s theater conduct as the breaking point for him.

Suppes’ Mesa County counterparts, Cody Davis and Bobbie Daniel, concurred: also endorsing Hurd and also citing the theater scandal as one of the reasons why.

These facts, combined with Boebert’s anemic fundraising compared to her Democratic challenger Adam Frisch—whom she only narrowly defeated in 2022 by a margin of approximately 550 votes—are ominous for the prominent Freedom Caucus member.

Unless something changes, it’s becoming increasingly likely that 2024 will be Lauren Boebert’s political curtain call.
